Fire Signs: Enough Spice to Catch on Fire

This one is kind of a no-brainer, right? If you have a fire sign hanging about, find a recipe where their drink will actually light on fire. First, their eyes will pop as they watch the experience. Then after they down the cocktail, they will be back for more.

We recommend the Bailey′s Comet, which is a tried and true Bailey′s with a twist: fire. This one has spice, flavor, and a kick that this cardinal sign will love.

  • 1 oz. Bailey′s
  • 1 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps
  • ½ oz. Goldschlager (go easy on this) mix together in a shaker
  • Add a dash of cinnamon

Leo′s love a good drink that hits their warm and fuzzy bone. Serve them the Not a Pumpkin Pastry, that goes down just like pumpkin pie. Watch the fire come alive in Leo′s eyes.

  • Layer 1. oz. Kahlua
  • 1 oz. Baileys
  • ½ oz. Tequila (in that order) in a cocktail tumbler with a dash of cinnamon and set it on fire
  • Add a cinnamon stick for a garnish

This zodiac sign is a little bit all over the place sometimes, and often at the speed of light. Make them the Flaming Lamborghini. The hangover is oh so worth it.

  • Layer ½ oz. Sambuca
  • ½ oz. Kahlua in a cocktail tumbler and stir
  • Have a separate shot glass with ½ oz. Bailey′s and ½ oz. Blue Curacao on the side
  • Set the tumbler concoction on fire, down it
  • Take the shot on the side, and yes, down it

Air Signs: Intellectual Drinks Hit the Mark

As the thinkers of the zodiac, the air signs like intellectual cocktails. They are the people that like a good story to go with every drink, or perhaps a great political conversation. Cater to their brainy side and you will hit the mark with the cocktails at your holiday party.

A Libra wants their drinks to look as elegant as they are. The Looks Can Be Deceiving cocktail will make a Libra marvel at the flavor party in their mouth and packs the punch that a Libra is looking for!

  • Combine 1 oz. vodka
  • ½ oz. blueberry juice
  • ½ oz. raspberry juice
  • Top it with ginger beer in a highball glass
  • Add a holiday appropriate garnish such as cranberries or rosemary

A Blue Label scotch that costs $200 a bottle is perfect for Gemini, but not everyone has that kind of cash. A holiday inspired bourbon on the rocks is a great choice. Have them try a Not Just Any Scotch that even Santa would enjoy.

  • Add a ½ oz. of lemon juice
  • ½ oz. maraschino liqueur
  • 1 oz. chartreuse
  • Add a mint garnish

The quirkier the drink, the better, for an Aquarius. They also like the color blue, so a drink like the Curacao Sunrise will be perfect for this air sign.

  • Put 1 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. Blue Curacao
  • 2 oz. cranberry juice
  • ½ oz. lime juice in a cocktail shaker
  • Moisten the rim of a martini glass, and dip it in a small plate of sugar and cake crystals

Earth Signs: Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget

When it comes to holiday drinks for your favorite earth signs, keep in mind that they have very refined tastes, but don′t want you to spend money on them. Whether it′s on their holiday gifts, or their holiday drinks. All you need is a champagne taste on a beer budget and they are easy to please.

Capricorns are practical and work hard; they usually put in long hours. After a long day at the office, they want something hearty like the 4 Food Group Tumbler. Yes, it really has all 4 food groups!

  • Crush up popcorn (grain) and bacon bits (meat) on a plate and dip a moistened tumbler rim with this salty and yummy concoction
  • Layer ½ oz. scotch
  • ½ oz. vodka
  • ½ oz. Bailey′s (dairy)
  • ½ oz. caramel liqueur and stir with a straw (don′t spoil the rim)
  • Add a garnish of lime or lemon (fruit) and there′s your last food group

Taurus is a fixed sign and being ruled by Venus, they like their pretty drinks, but won′t want the fuss. A Not Your Ordinary Cosmopolitan tells any Taurus that you know their tastes are refined.

  • Put two slices of ginger into a shaker
  • Combine with 1 oz. gin
  • 1 oz. of pomegranate liqueur
  • ½ oz. cardamom syrup
  • ½ oz. lemon juice and shake it up
  • Pour it into a martini glass garnished with fruit for the ladies. Put it into a scotch tumbler glass garnished with a celery stalk for the men

A Virgo is not the easiest person to mix a fancy drink for, as they don′t really want you to go through too much trouble. A delicious, bubbly champagne that doesn′t break the bank will win a Virgo anytime. Rim the glass with something fancy or put some festive colored fruit in the glass to make a Virgo a happy camper. For the Virgo that doesn′t like champagne, adding a garnish to a simple chardonnay has the same lovely effect.

Water Signs: Tune Into Their Emotions

When you′re making holiday cocktails for the water signs, catering to their emotional side is going to be the way to win the host with the most award. They want a drink that feels good. If they know you put some thought into their favorite drink, it will make all of the difference in the world.

A Cancer likes a good drink that symbolizes the wonderful life they have created. This It′s a Wonderful Wine recipe poured into a festive holiday mug, or wine glass rimmed with brown sugar and nutmeg, will give you one happy Cancer. The longer this drink rests, the better it tastes.

  • Bring a liter of a red wine of your choice to a boil
  • Add holiday spices: chives, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger

A Scorpio is a little on the sensual side. You can catch a Scorpio′s heart with your drinks by serving something that is a bit sensual. A Coffee Chocotini will give a shot of caffeine and will have a Scorpio singing your praises by the end of any night.

  • In a shaker combine 1 oz. rum
  • ½ oz. Grand Marnier
  • ½ oz. of chocolate liqueur
  • Add ½ oz. espresso and a splash of heavy cream and shake it up
  • Moisten the rim of the glass and dip in finely graded chocolate

As the mutable water sign, a Pisces is a little more mysterious than the rest. You want to serve them a drink that reflects your appreciation of their deep personality. These people also have a saucy side, so make their drink a little “dirty” with the Very Dirty Martini that will make them feel extra special.

  • In a cocktail shaker mix 1 oz. vermouth
  • 1 oz. vodka or gin
  • ½ oz. of pickle juice (instead of olive juice)
