What Harmony Is
We use the word “harmony” around here a lot. There’s a reason for that. Harmony is a good thing. But like the word “abundance,” it can be overused, or even, inappropriately or incorrectly used. It’s an easy word to just “throw out there” when you want to say something nice. And, saying the word harmony IS nice. It feels good. It feels like you’re on the right path. But, achieving and feeling harmony is….far sweeter. And you can’t do that unless you actually know what it means.
Libra energy is high this month, and Libra is the Cardinal Air Sign. Libra is embodied by the Justice Card in Tarot, and Libra is the Queen of Harmony. Libra is balanced, fair, just, honest, and, harmonious. Libra also hates the drama and will run from it at all and at any cost. We can learn a lot from our Libra friends. If you master only one trait in this world before your exit from this plane, let it be harmony. Because harmony is a beautiful thing, and literally, trumps everything else, all the time, no matter what.

Harmony is About Balance
Harmony is just literally, being a pleasant person to deal with no matter what. That’s right. No. Matter. What. Harmony is, finding balance in tough situations. The dictionary defines harmony as accord, agreement, peace, amity, amicability, friendship, cooperation, unity, and rapport. The list could actually go on and on, those are just the starting points. And so now we know why Libra is noted by the Justice Card in Tarot. It’s all about just….getting along.
We live in a day and age where this is difficult. We live even right now in a political climate that makes it feel sometimes like harmony is impossible. No matter who you support politically, you can’t support one candidate right now without getting in trouble from someone that supports the other. This is not harmony.
And the truth? The truth is that a country that lacks harmony and balance will always be a country divided, well past the election. Can’t we all just get along?
Will You Engage Harmony or Drama?
This is not just true with politics. It’s true in the politics of daily life. The moment you step out the door for the day or speak to a human being online or on the phone, you activate a chain reaction of your own personal choices. What will you engage in? Harmony? Or, drama?
It’s difficult. I do know this to be true. It’s an active choice that we each must make every day. When you are confronted with a person or experience that throws the equilibrium of a situation off balance, you have three choices. 1.) Engage in the drama. 2.) Ignore the problem and hope it goes away. 3.) Love them anyway. What choice will you make?
Ignoring the ugly is a good option, and sometimes the only one. But loving them tips the scales. This is what Deepak Chopra teaches all the time. He says, our days are happier when we give people a little piece of hearts, rather than a piece of our minds. A spiritual mentor I once had always used to remind me, “You give someone a piece of your mind too many times and you’re not going to have anything left for yourself!”

Food for thought. It’s not easy, I know. And in this world we are tested, every day, more than we would like. But when you give someone a piece of your heart in those situations, you tip the scales of justice, and harmony, in your favor. Now there’s more love there than there was before the situation started. And it’s all because of you. Not only will you get closer to harmony, but you will also have more peace of mind, than less, pieces of your mind. So what piece of your Self are you going to give next time you are given the test?
