The theme of the month of January is new beginnings. We are at the start of a brand new year. We are also about to begin a brand new cycle in numerology as well.

2017 is a 1 year in numerology. 1 represents a clean slate and the creation of new possibilities. To help you set the tone for new beginnings, we also have a New Moon in Aquarius, later this month.

A New Moon in the air sign of Aquarius means it’s best to apply rational thought and logic when you are planting your seeds of new beginnings. Before we start digging into that; let’s think about what we need to do before those new beginnings can become a reality.

For you have a new beginning, you need to clean out some of the winter trash. I mean this in a physical and mental sense. That’s what we’re going to be talking about today.

Turn Lessons into Growth

Whenever I do my holiday decorating (and un-decorating), I always do a major cleanup before and after. I declutter everything that I need to tidy up to create space for decorations or festive touches. Then I do a deep clean from top to bottom of the house.

It always makes life so much easier when it comes time to do spring cleaning because I’ve already done a lot of work. We are in mid-winter, and you don’t have a whole lot to do but hang out and wait for spring to arrive. While you are doing that, our gardens outside are very busy getting ready for spring as well.

The plants that rest dormant under the soil are doing their own kind of pre-spring cleaning. What is happening outside, is that the gardens are taking all of the fall leaves that were left in the garden beds, they are taking the lingering life from that decay and transforming it into something useful for the spring.

That material and decay will be used as fertilizer for your spring garden to blossom and transform into a beautiful masterpiece of tulips and daffodils in your spring bouquet. You can actually use the toxic situations of your life to fertilize new growth in your life, but you have to really want to do that.

Do Some Internal Cleaning

You might declutter and tidy before you begin a new season in your home, or like your gardens are doing on the outside of your home. You want to do this internal decluttering and tidying as well. It’s incredibly important before you can pave the way for a successful year ahead.

To have a truly exceptional new beginning this year, you need to clean out the trash. Another way of looking at that is clearing out the decay and old material in your life that is no longer serving you. Like the old material and decay in your lawn and garden pads, the old material can be used to fertilize something new.

Imagine you are dating someone new, or starting a new job. You don’t want to go into either of these situations carrying around the baggage of your previous experiences.

Nobody would want to date somebody that is still mourning their last relationship. You wouldn’t want to put up with someone still pining for their ex, or holding onto anger over a past breakup.

Likewise, nobody wants to hire somebody that is still holding onto issues or bad habits that led to them to be fired or leave their previous workplace.

It doesn’t mean you can’t use that decay and old material in your life to succeed! In fact, you should be using all of that energy and lessons from your previous experiences to excel in your life going forward.

As you begin planning what you want this year to look like, start thinking about how you can use this fresh, clean slate. To do that; you need to find a useful means for all of the toxic waste from last year. Get rid of it now.

As you are throwing out the old tree, wrapping paper, and boxes into the trash, really reflect on how you can use these experiences to create the garden of your dreams in 2017. What are you most excited about putting to the curb this year?
