Create Compassionate Relationships with the New Moon in Libra
On October 8th, the New Moon falls in the sign of Libra. Venus, the ruler of Libra, will be in retrograde in the sign of Scorpio and will be squaring Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio. So this New Moon will have a certain duality between Libra and Scorpio. Libra will want to focus on the beauty whereas Scorpio wants to look at those deep dark secrets.
The New Moon Equals New Beginnings
The Moon orbits the Earth in about 28 days. This orbit encompasses multiple phases, which we call the Lunar Cycle. During this cycle, there is a rebirthing of the Moon along the wheel of life (zodiac wheel). The Moon spends about 2 days in each sign/house of your birth chart, bringing awareness of what needs to be healed and transformed. Just as the Moon goes through a rebirth, so do you.
All New Moons have an initiating theme as they represent the rebirthing of the Moon along its lunar cycle. As the Moon begins to move away (waxing) from the Sun, there is an opportunity to start a rebirth of an idea, an emotional response, a habit, etc.
Many cultures have used this phase of the lunar cycle to set intentions for the month ahead. The intentions created during this time most often correlate to the sign and planetary aspects that are happening during the New Moon.
Time to Detox Your Mind, Body, & Soul
This New Moon will occur at 15 degrees of Libra, which is exactly halfway through the Libra energy cycle of 30 degrees. This means we are smack dab in the middle of Libra territory. We are feeling a diplomatic and people-pleasing energy that will last until the next New Moon on November 7th.
But wait! Here comes the intense Scorpio energy from Venus and Pluto to put a damper on all the peace-loving energy of Libra. Since Venus rules the sign of Libra and is currently retrograding in the sign of Scorpio, we will see the need to go over past mistakes and situations in order to transform them within our hearts. This new beginning may be a new way of channelling our passion and desires in relationships, with ourselves and others. Transforming what we value.
On a more physical level, this new moon might be asking you to detox and start a new diet/exercise program in order to clear the body of outworn and unwelcomed health issues. Libra energy will want you to moderate your intake of sugar, alcohol, and other unhealthy substances, while Scorpio energy will want to do something drastic like a 7-day detox or infrared sauna. Whatever is calling to you, do it with compassion for your body as it carries the weight of your soul. Be kind and take this new routine one day at a time.
If your relationship health needs a detox, Pluto will be able to assist you as it squares the New Moon and Sun in Libra. Our need to be in control and powerful within our relationships will be highlighted. This may cause some tension in existing relationships. This aspect will ask you to uncover what is the root of this desire to control? Is it fear? Is it a subconscious reaction from the past?
Whatever arises, focus on the compassionate energy of Libra and work through the tough spots within your relationships. All relationships take two people. Remind yourself that any tension that arises just shows you where you need to send more love and compassion.
New Moon’s are like fresh starts. This one in particular is a chance to change the course of our lives and be more aligned with what we value within ourselves and others. No matter the focus for your new beginning, always approach it with love, compassion, and a tiny bit of surrender to the cosmos above.
