Get Ready For Jupiter Retrograde: Take a Breather

Jupiter retrograde happens once a year and lasts 120 days. This is a great opportunity to get to know what is stopping you from growing, whether it be habits keeping you from thinking sharp and having energy or values leading you to sustained happiness and blocking the enjoyment and subsequent abundance that comes from living a purposeful life.

We often think negatively when we hear the word retrograde, but when it comes to the planet of luck and wisdom, we can expect the pressure valve to be released in our minds instead of hard times ahead.

You can expect the fast pace you have been in to mellow out a bit which will allow you to reflect on where you’ve been putting your energy. We moved right from an intense period where many planets were in hardworking Capricorn to the eclipse season which brought heightened, intense fire energy that had us spinning.

Now it’s time to enjoy the ride and take it easy as we coast on the momentum we have built, so to speak. This is, however, a great time for our spiritual growth as we can evaluate why we have been doing the things we do and where our motivations are coming from.

What Does Jupiter Affect?

Something this retrograde can help us with is to see where we are blocked off from connecting with others. Maybe we have a bias that developed in a past life and we are unable to develop healthy relationships because of a subconscious chip on our shoulder that we can finally see and let go of.

During this time, work on yourself and see if you are focused excessively on the negative traits of others because that is an area where you can infuse more love, compassion and seek to understand them instead of alienating them.

When it comes to money, we can use this time to improve our interpersonal skills by looking at where we are cold, shut off or unwilling to see another perspective. As we refine our own philosophy, we can open to new opportunities and bridge gaps in our own consciousness that have previously blocked us from seeing openings.

If we can flip those relationships that have been a thorn in our side into a blossoming rose, the ways in which we can flourish increase exponentially. We can look to see the love and kindness in others instead of anger and confusion. As we seek to see another person in this light, we stop seeing our differences and our hearts open.

Time to Redefine Success

I remember one of my spiritual mentors saying the two biggest reasons people fell off their spiritual path (Which in this case included meditation, yoga, and being of service to the community.) was because of money or sex.

This meant that at some point a person’s consciousness would tell them it was more important to put their energy into a certain relationship or job because they felt it would provide more happiness. The reason I’m telling you this is because Jupiter retrograde allows us to see if anything we have prioritized isn’t providing the happiness we may have believed it would.

As we look at where we spend our energy in both work and love, we are able to feel that true wealth is an emotional state of being that is unshaken by the highs and lows in our finances or relationship status. We are more readily willing to align our life based on the path of the soul, being a good person, and value ourselves based on how we support others.

I often think of the wise elder who lives passionately to keep others from making mistakes that will lead them down the wrong path or a person who works diligently to help those in a tough situation by rallying volunteers to roll up their sleeves in their spare time.

Personally, I think this retrograde is a time that will lead to more happiness in your life because we can see the illusions created by the ego that leads us to seek pleasure by getting instead of giving.

Additionally, this retrograde is in the sign of Scorpio, a deep-thinking sign that illuminates our own shadows, so we will be able to see our own ugly behaviors and get off our high horse to purify our own actions. You can reflect on what ignites your soul and what makes you feel purposeful during this time.

What steps do you want to take to be a kinder, more thoughtful human? This is about improving the quality and integrity of who we are to present better energy to others.

Conclusion

Jupiter is a planet of action and during a retrograde, we may find we are not moving forward quite as much but we can refine our process. Look at where you have rushed things and take time to improve on the details. Allow yourself to study something more thoroughly or do less, but with more awareness.

Perhaps this retrograde will just subtly allow you to get out of feeling like you’re pushing so hard to survive and allow you to enjoy the moment you are in. When we are present, not thinking ten steps ahead, we are able to listen to people with more authenticity and develop stronger bonds that have no hidden agenda but are based on pure love.

Love exists in a relaxed state of unified existence. Let’s work to bring more love into each word and smile we share over the next four months with the intention that we all deserve to be happy and live a peaceful life, regardless of our belief systems.
