The art of palmistry has been around for thousands of years; it is a form of divination used to see a person’s potential and personality. It’s also called chiromancy. It includes looking at the shape of the hand, the fingers, and the lines on the palm of your dominant hand and then interpreting the unique qualities of these features to determine aspects of your personality, interpersonal relationships, and your life in general.
Palmistry can be quite revealing to the trained eye, and all training has to start somewhere! Why not start by learning the basic lines of the palm?
Today, let’s just start with the 3 main lines that people look at in palmistry: the heart line, the head line, and the life line. Once you are familiar with these lines, you can start to learn the differences between them and what they mean. Remember that you should reference your dominant hand when reading your palm.
The Heart Line
The top-most line on your palm (the line closest to your fingers) indicates a variety of aspects of love such as your intimacy, your relationships, and your emotions. The heart line is about how you love the world, to put it plainly.
Because the art of palm reading is based on the Universal ‘as above so below’ concept, the heart line also reveals the nature of the love you have for yourself, which can be reflected in the way you treat others.
A long, deep, curved heart line indicates strong emotions and lasting relationships. A shorter, straighter, shallower heart line indicates you’re more practical and less ruled by emotions. It can also indicate the length of relationships could tend to be shorter-lived.
To many, a non-distinct or shallow heart line means that your goals are not as tied up with romance. If your heart line falls somewhere between a deep groove and a thin trace, you probably have a healthy balance.
The straighter the heart line, the more analytical you are, and the more likely you are to push your emotions away to try to feel in control. The more of a curve there is to the heart line, the more intense your emotions will be in your life. If there are breaks in the heart line, it could mean you put others before yourself. Too many breaks might mean you need to stop bending over backwards.
The Head Line
The
The longer the line is, the more topics you will learn about in your life. If it’s a shorter line, perhaps you will master one or two things.
The deeper the line, the more complex subjects pique your curiosity and you are a deep thinker. A shallower line indicates a

The Life Line
The life line is the deep, curved semi-circular line closest to the thumb. Contrary to what its name suggests, this line is not about predicting the length of your life, but rather about the energy you’ll bring to it, the way you will initiate change, and even the types of events that can occur.
If your life line sweeps further out towards the center of your palm, it indicates you will have high, ambitious energy, while the closer the line hugs your thumb, the more receptive you’ll be to the flow of life as it comes.
Similarly, if your life line begins higher up on your palm nearer to the index finger (rather than the thumb), it means you possess an active energy, and you’re likely to take initiative and be strong-minded. If it starts lower on your hand closer to the thumb, you’re likely to go with the flow and take life as it comes without trying to control it too much.
Finally, look at the depth and length of your life line. If it’s a deep line, you have intense energy and will experience the world around you more intensely. A shallower life line suggests you tire easily and need to recharge frequently. Broken lines can indicate major life changes or trauma.
Shorter lines mean you’re susceptible to the influence of other people, while longer lines mean you’re a natural leader. As you grow and change, so will the lines on your palms. Like the rest of your body, your hands are changeable, just as your energy and intention create your future.
Concluding Thoughts…
Palmistry is a subjective and intuitive art. Just like any other intuitive tool, it becomes easier with practice. The hands have a lot to say for those who are tuned in and have worked to open their intuition. Keep reading about palmistry and practice noticing the differences between your hands. Compare your palms to your friends’ and family members’ and soon you’ll be able to pick up on the nuances you may have missed before.
Anyone that tells you your fate is out of your hands needs to look closer at their own hands – we can manifest and co-create our lives once we learn to use our intuition to communicate with the Universe. The future isn’t written in stone, but it is written in your palms and it changes a little bit every day based on how you choose to use your energy in the world.
