How to Spread the Love Around
Life can be overwhelming at times, and when we feel particularly stressed out, we might forget to send out our positivity to share with the world. After all, when you’re knee-deep in bills, deadlines and general adult-sized stressors, spreading the love is likely the last thing on your mind.
Did you know that sharing your love and positivity will actually create more joy in your heart? Sometimes joy comes in unlikely shapes and sizes, and we may not think of helping others as a means to produce our own happiness, yet it works wonders.
Giving of yourself and sharing loving energy with others has an almost immediate effect on your mood; not only will you light the spirits of those around you, but your spirit will rise alongside theirs, elevating your state of being and allowing you to feel joyous and grateful for your life’s blessings.
There’s no bad time to begin spreading the love around, and it doesn’t matter what kind of mood you’re in. Sharing love is free and, the best part is, you’ll never run out. Sometimes, however, it can be difficult to know where to begin, especially if you’ve been struggling with something like depression or anxiety.
This article will teach you how to take the first steps on your path to being a loving, kind and joy-inducing individual.
1. Get Out of Your Head
One thing I personally struggle with is overthinking, getting deeply lost in my own inner world, which usually involves a hefty amount of stress and worry. If you struggle with these tendencies, you’re not alone.
When we’re so focused on our “to-do’s” and “have-not’s,” we aren’t preparing our mental state for a glorious exchange of brotherly love. Furthermore, stress and worry do not assist with or prevent any kind of problem that might arise, and can actually worsen problems.
Stress can elevate blood pressure and heart rate, and no one feels productive when they’re so nervous their heart is beating out of their chest. Get out of this limiting mindset by first practicing gratitude. When you feel overwhelmed by your circumstances, think about everything you appreciate in your life and everything that makes you happy.
It could be your loved ones, pets, career or accomplishments- there is no limit to gratitude. An attitude of gratitude goes a long way and will put you in the right frame of mind to send out those loving vibes.
2. Good Deeds
If you’re feeling blue, your first thought is not likely to do something nice for someone else. Being helpful is one of the easiest ways to spread the love, as well as lift your own spirits. It could be as simple as holding the door open for someone behind you, or helping an elderly person cross the street during busy traffic.
Maybe your friend needs help moving, or your parents could use your assistance in setting up an electronic device. The point is, it doesn’t have to be a grandiose gesture in order to be truly helpful to others. Often, it really is the thought that counts.
3. Set Your Loving Intentions
When you wake up in the morning, set your intentions for the day. Remind yourself you wish to brighten people’s spirits and spread the love throughout the day. By preparing yourself emotionally and mentally, you will be better able to handle any stressors that come your way.
When something irritating happens, you might softly whisper to yourself a mantra such as, “All is love,” or “I am a calm, loving being.” Setting yourself up for success will help you move about the day with confidence and love to share.
There are so many ways to spread love to those around you. Making the decision to be a medium for love is the first, the biggest and the most important step. When you determine for yourself that you will share loving energy with the world, that love will flow through and around you, lifting the spirits of everyone near you. So go out, and become a conduit of universal love for all.
