A Lunar Eclipse occurs only 2-4 times each year because the Full Moon must be within a certain distance of the Lunar Nodes (the points in the Moon’s orbit where the Moon crosses the ecliptic). Currently, the Lunar Nodes are in Taurus and Scorpio.
