Sun in Pisces Trine Jupiter Retrograde in Scorpio
From March 8 to July 10, Jupiter is in retrograde in the sign of Scorpio. On March 13, the Sun in Pisces trines Jupiter in Scorpio. Wondering what that mouthful of words means? Let’s break it down piece by piece, because there’s a whole lot going on!
Trine is an astrological aspect. Astrologically, it refers to two planets in transit that are 120 degrees apart. This aspect can signify harmony, creativity and artistic talent. Basically, when you are reading a horoscope that includes this word, it means the first planet mentioned will be working easily with the second planet.
In this case, we would look at the qualities of Pisces to add to the qualities of Jupiter in the sign of Scorpio. Another little wrinkle though, is this Jupiter in retrograde piece of the puzzle - which could slow our progress significantly!
When a planet is in retrograde, that means it’s moving much more slowly. When a planet slows down considerably in its orbital path, it appears to be moving backwards, or in retrograde. Planets in retrograde influence the same areas of our lives as they would while direct, but in a backwards, mixed-up manner.
When Jupiter is direct, it has an expansive influence, encouraging big ideas and head in the clouds, bigger picture dreaming. It also brings prosperity, growth and good fortune and is connected with a desire for freedom, and can bring on urges to travel, explore, learn and have a great time.
On the flip side, when Jupiter is in retrograde, we need to think about the opposite of that energy - we might not see through rose-colored glasses, and we might turn that excited lust for life more inward and consider issues we’re having around our own growth and development. If we’re not happy, we’ll spend more time thinking about why, instead of just getting on with it.
Jupiter in Scorpio
The mysterious water sign of Scorpio is intense and passionate, and can be more introverted than most. There’s always a lot going on behind the layer of self-control they show to the world though - they feel things very deeply, they just don’t like to show it. Scorpio is discerning, watchful and great with money and financial decisions.
With Jupiter in Scorpio, we see an optimistic, outgoing sign in an emotional, thoughtful sign. In retrograde, this means we will be likely to turn our focus more inward, doing some self-reflection, and looking for ways to seek personal growth.
It’s a great time to pull away from an overactive social life in order to listen to your own mind and body, and to tackle some bigger issues around finances or career. Spending this time with a focus on yourself can lead you to think about things you never make time for - and to make connections you didn’t think were possible.
Sun in Pisces
Adaptable Pisces is a mutable sign, able to go with the flow and take things as they come. With the Sun in Pisces, we see more compassion, more willingness to listen and a desire to build deeper, more intimate relationships. We’re also more likely to step back and look around at what’s going on in our environment.
Being able to see the possibilities in the world allows us to dream and keep the ideas flowing too! Both Pisces and Scorpio are emotional water signs, and both place huge value in honesty and sincerity. Don’t ever lie to either of these signs, for they will see it as very disrespectful and they might write you off as someone they won’t be able to trust.
As friendly as Pisces can be though, they need to catch some time alone - think about how exhausting it would be to absorb the feelings of everyone around you. Sometimes you just need a break, and this energy aligns perfectly with the slowed-down Jupiter in retrograde. This is telling us to take a break, savor the private moments and think carefully.

Okay, so what does all of this planetary movement mean to you? Instead of feeling stuck in the slowness of retrograde, or feeling too negative or stagnant when it comes to your goals, use the creative optimism of Pisces to look at what’s on your plate in a new way - and re-inspire yourself!
It’s time to consider new ideas and opinions, and if you’ve been worried about your finances or trying to save some money, it could be a great moment to come up with a new savings plan, set some money goals, and try something completely different.
Maybe it’s time to downsize your house to pay down your mortgage faster or perhaps you could finally take on that garage sale, clean out the spare room and make some extra money. Perhaps you need to put some thought into getting that part-time job, making some side money and learning a new skill at the same time.
Creative Pisces can help you think about everything in a different way, so if you limit yourself to just worrying and not taking action, you might be missing out on something that could change your life! Use the lessons from Pisces on withdrawing from the noise to hear your own, important thoughts and see what you discover.
If we’ve been questioning some aspect of ourselves, being really nit picky about a quality we aren’t so proud of, or worried we aren’t reaching our maximum efforts, this is a great time to shift our perspective from negative to hopeful, or from anxious to excited and positive.
We might be a bit more suspicious, but with the kind influence of the Sun in Pisces encouraging us to see the good in people, we can push past our concerns, ask more pointed questions and get to know people on a deeper, more intimate level.
With the combination of creative, compassionate and inspired Pisces and the influence of the trine aspect leading us to accept ourselves and look for situations that will bring harmony to our lives, now is the time to challenge ourselves to look at our lives and issues in a different way, that we may ultimately push through and accomplish much more.
