While reading the stars can show us what kind of decisions and problems we may be facing at any given time, we are primarily equipped with our intuition, wit, and good senses when it comes to making those tough choices.
If only it were always that simple!
Sometimes, the intuition feels hazy and suddenly nothing is clear. We might not have a quick and easy “yes or no” answer to our problems. Suddenly, we’re sitting in a 7 of Cups moment with options, illusions, and clouded vision throwing us all out of sync.
When all else fails, Tarot is a tool that can help us tap into the deepest and cleanest parts of our intuition and psyche, and we can use it in these kinds of situations!
We’ve crafted a very simple and easy Tarot spread to help you with your decision-making processes, and shed some light into the areas that may appear to be all shadow.

Decision-Making 6-Card Tarot Spread
- What is the core energy of the situation?
- What is something important about the situation that you aren’t seeing?
- Another important factor to take into consideration is…
- What is the attitude that you need in order to make this decision?
- What did your intuition first tell you about the situation?
- What is some advice that you need to hear?
Below you can find an example of what the spread might look like in practice.
1. What is the core energy of the situation? – The Moon
The Moon brings an energy of mystery and confusion to any situation, so having its energy dead-center of a situation that requires decision-making can make for an awfully confusing time. Knowing that not all is at it seems, however, is still an extremely useful piece of information, as The Moon reminds you not to try to think things out too logically, or else you might miss solutions that are more emotional, intuitive, or less cut and dry.
Embrace the gray area with this card!
2. What is something important about the situation that you aren’t seeing? – Wheel of Fortune
Not all has to be done by your hands. This card reminds you that some things are just up to fate, luck, or whatever powers that may be. Ruled by Jupiter, the planet of luck, the Wheel of Fortune is a wonderful ally to have at your disposal.
Trust that your decision will be the right one with some help from luck itself, even if you can’t see that mysterious force in action.
3. Another important factor to take into consideration is… – 4 of Pentacles
This card may indicate that making any decision is going to be more beneficial than making no decision at all. The energy of the 4 of Pentacles is a clingy one, and if you squeeze too tightly onto something, you can risk the possibility of it slipping out of your tight grasp.
Let the warning of the 4 of Pentacles remind you that a decision should be made no matter how unsure you are of the direction you ultimately choose!
4. What is the attitude that you need in order to make this decision? – 10 of Cups
At the end of the day, keep the long-term goals, true desires, dreams, and aspirations you have for yourself in the front of your mind.
The 10 of Cups is happiness embodied, and boldly displays many of the components that have led to that happiness. However, components and pieces aside, the beautiful bounty that is being enjoyed in this card are often values like love, family, trust, and other important things that we keep close to our hearts.
Don’t lose those in all of the chaos!
5. What did your intuition first tell you about the situation? – Page of Cups
The Page of Cups is an enthusiastic, creative, and open-minded spirit that is optimistic by nature, and isn’t afraid to take some leaps of faith to try something a little different.
This card may be encouraging you to take that leap of faith; your intuition may have initially prompted you to try an option that is outside of the box, unconventional, or totally out of your comfort zone.
6. What is some advice that you need to hear? – The Tower
Change is inevitable, and The Tower is a (sometimes painful) note of this. While you can try your best to do damage control, there may be a reason that this decision is hard to make in the first place.
Perhaps not everything is meant to fall into place neatly, and perhaps it is not possible for everyone to walk away unscathed from the tower collapsing. As quickly as it tumbles, however, there will always be people there to rebuild something stronger in its place.
Keep in Mind…
Tarot can’t do the work for you — at the end of the day, the decision will always be yours to make. However, a spread like this, or any method of reaching out to the Tarot for insight, can seriously take some of the weight off of your shoulders when it comes time for you to lay down your final judgment.
And don’t worry: whatever it is you choose, Tarot will be there to support you time and time again!
