Your Wellness Horoscope: Rise to the Challenge

Welcome to your Wellness Horoscope for May 18th – 24th!

Ever wondered why you randomly feel sluggish for no reason? Or why one day you appear to be bursting with energy and another you can barely bring yourself to get out of bed?

Yes, we may have physical and mental problems that impact our health. But health astrology is very real – in fact, the father of all medicine, Hippocrates, famously said: “A physician without a knowledge of astrology has no right to call himself a physician.”

Hippocrates believed that the Moon influenced human bodies and mental well-being. This week, the Moon will pass through Aries, Taurus, and Gemini. The Sun will also be making a change this week, moving out of stable, earthy Taurus and into communicative Gemini.

We have a New Moon on Friday, which is a good time to consume less and increase your intake of liquids in your diet. The New Moon is a time when a good diet can have a particularly positive impact in warding off illness or infections, so preparing in advance for more liquid-based foods (such as soup) and ensuring to get plenty of water is strongly recommended.

What else does the coming week have in store for you? Read on to find out!

Aries

The first few days of the week are a good time to embark on a new weight management program – the Moon in its Waning Crescent stage makes it an excellent time to detoxify. During the first couple of days, the Moon is in your sign, providing you with energy and enthusiasm, but there is an increased risk of headaches. So, it’s a good idea to manage your time efficiently and have enough rest between work and play.

Mid-week, it’s possible you’ll experience a come-down from the high energy, which could lead to a bout of the blues. Increase your potassium intake, which is found in foods such as green beans, nuts, dairy, cabbage, and shallots.

From Friday to Sunday, the Moon and Sun will be in Gemini. Be careful not to over-think – this could result in those infamous headaches and lead to irritable, snappy behavior. Meditation sessions and grounding yourself in the earth (if possible) is strongly recommended.

Taurus

With the Moon in Aries during Monday and Tuesday, you may be prone to bouts of high energy, which could result in an imbalance within the body if you’re not careful. The most important thing to do during this time is to take care of your mental health, so give yourself time and space for grounding. Black tourmaline is a crystal highly recommended to use and wear during this period.

Watch out for over-indulgence mid-week. A stricter regime may be necessary, and it is important to get enough sodium sulfate in your diet, otherwise, you may feel sluggish and heavy. Foods with this include asparagus, cucumber, and radishes.

In the last few days of the week, the Gemini Moon and Sun provide increased mental stimulation. It’s the perfect time for planning and organization, but at the same time, be sure to give yourself enough breaks so you don’t become mentally overwhelmed.

Gemini

This is going to be an active week for you, Gemini, so you want to prepare for balance as much as possible. During the first couple of days, there’s an increased need for stimulation, but be careful your temper doesn’t get the better of you.

Mid-week, the Moon enters Taurus and things begin to slow down a bit, but the Sun moves into your sign and this heightens the need for mental stimulation. You may become frustrated if you feel your needs are not being met and this could result in anxiety. Listen to guided meditation and nature sounds, as this is very soothing for you.

Towards the end of the week, the lunar and solar energies are both in your sign and it is particularly important for you to have a productive outlet to release your own powerful energy. Think of hobbies or activities you would like to engage in or explore so your mind does not go veering off on its own.

Cancer

Ensure to get plenty of relaxation during the first couple of days this week. Focusing on exercise regimes is a productive way to direct the strong Aries energy. Problems with the stomach could arise if you let stress get the better of you, so ensure to get plenty of water and include probiotics such as miso and sauerkraut in your diet, which will help your gut system.

Mid-week, you ought to experience more relaxing energy, but you risk lacking motivation. Setting out a workable plan at the beginning of the week is recommended so you have something to follow.

Towards the end of the week, you may feel a little overwhelmed by an increase in mental activity so it’s important you take time to care for your physical body, which can include hot bubble baths with essential oils mixed with a carrier oil and meditation sessions.

Leo

You’ll feel very energetic during the first couple days of this week, which makes it an excellent time to get things done, Leo. Just be sure not to overdo it. Consume heart-friendly foods such as fish and nuts and drink plenty of water so you don’t dehydrate.

Mid-week, you’ll probably feel drawn towards more relaxing activities, so don’t force yourself to do something too strenuous! This could result in a desire to ‘comfort-eat,’ rewarding yourself with foods that don’t sit well with you. Avoid fatty foods and an excess of gluten.

Towards the end of the week, one of the best ways to dispense your energy is to communicate with others about your chosen passions. Don’t keep your ideas locked away. Sitting on energy can lead to explosions of some kind of another. Don’t expect too much of yourself, Leo, and give yourself time-out when you need it.

Virgo

Any physical wounds are likely to heal fast for you during this Waning Crescent Moon, Virgo, and the first couple of days will generate high activity for you. Exercise is strongly recommended and you’ll see good results if embarking upon a new exercise regime.

Mid-week, you’ll feel more comfortable and practical but this could lead to slipping up – if you experience moments of de-motivation, write down your goals and plans, sit and meditate with it for a while and be open about what you want to achieve.

Towards the end of the week and as we enter the phase of the New Moon, it’s a good time for you to focus on your digestive system. Nervousness or anxiety may contribute to poor digestion and a messed-up sleeping schedule, so meditation and probiotic foods such as sauerkraut and tempeh are highly recommended for you.

Libra

With the Moon in Aries at the beginning of the week, you’re likely going to have intense energy which is best directed towards creative projects, Libra. This is a good time for detoxifying, both your body and your mind. Let go of negative thought patterns and focus on the positives.

Mid-week, there’s a chance you may be thrown off-balance if there are any intense emotional experiences, so make sure you have a positive atmosphere around you. Grounding is especially important for you and it’s equally important that you get enough sodium phosphate in your diet. This includes foods such as beetroot, rice, oats and blueberries.

The New Moon later in the week is likely to have a powerful influence on you, and you’ll want to pay attention to your sensitive spots – the kidneys and liver organs. Plenty of water is necessary, and dandelion and horsetail tea are great for flushing toxins from the body.

Scorpio

The first few days bring intense energy to you, Scorpio, which can also transform into sexual energy, so directing your sexual passion in a healthy way is important for you. You can also direct this energy towards creative endeavors. However it is done, it’s important not to just sit on this energy as this can lead to pent-up frustrations and outbursts.

Mid-week, you’ll likely feel calmer, but there’ll be increased mental stimulation which makes it crucial for you to create a workable routine for yourself. Write down your schedule for the week in order to give yourself something to follow.

A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, fatty fish, nuts, berries, and legumes is important for you throughout the week, as what you put into your body has a direct impact on your mental well-being. This is a powerful time for you, Scorpio, and a sensitive one.

Sagittarius

With the Moon in a fellow fire sign, Aries, you’ll feel a desire to take action in the first few days of the week, but it’s important you don’t push yourself too hard. Meditation exercises and the crystals, sodalite, and angelite are calming and healing for you.

Mid-week, it’s likely you’ll experience a stronger desire for freedom while wanting to maintain a steady flow – this can result in some confusion or frustration if your energies are out of sync and is best tackled with a diet rich in vitamins and minerals, as well as consistent exercise.

Towards the end of the week and in the stage of the New Moon, melons, cucumbers, pumpkins, and turnips are the types of food you should include in your diet to maintain a healthy physical and mental well-being.

Capricorn

There’s a chance of sleep disturbances in the first half of the week, Capricorn, so maintaining a good sleep schedule is important and can be helped along by lavender flower bags placed next to your pillow and chamomile tea before bed.

Mid-week, focus on getting enough calcium phosphate. The Moon enters fellow Earth sign, Taurus, at this point but there is a risk you may feel less motivated and prone to indulgence. Eat foods such as spinach, grapes, oats, potatoes, and corn to get enough of this mineral.

As the New Moon approaches at the end of the week, it’s a good time to reassess your diet and exercise regime and really listen to what your body needs. You’ll experience signs of it throughout the week, so keep a diary noting down the different signs your body is showing you.

Aquarius

It’s a great time to start up a new exercise regime or include new additions to your diet, Aquarius. The Waning Crescent Moon in Aries at the start of the week is a powerful time for letting go of bad habits and embracing new ones that are good for you.

Mid-week, you may lose a bit of motivation and indulge in a little over-eating of the tasty but junky stuff – self-discipline may be in order! Be mindful of this throughout the week as it can be very easy to get carried away during this time.

Towards the end of the week and in the stage of the New Moon, you may want to look at different ways you can generate more excitement in your exercise and diet regimes. One fast-track way for you to lose motivation is by doing the same thing over and over again. Think of new and inventive ways to keep things exciting!

Pisces

Your physical well-being is directly linked to your emotions, Pisces, and during the first half of the week, it’s important for you to keep a good balance within yourself as you’ll find your emotions intensified. The Aries Moon brings with it adventure and excitement, but it can be a little exhausting for you, Pisces, so don’t push yourself too hard!

Mid-week, things ought to calm down a bit, but you may be drawn towards food or drink that has little benefit for you. It is good to increase your intake of ferrum phosphate (iron) and this is found in foods such as berries, grapes, and bananas.

Towards the end of the week, you’ll feel more lively and have an increased need for mental stimulation. Garlic, ginger, and fatty fish are examples of foods to include in your diet as they’ll help keep your brain cells working happily.
