10 of Wands
The 10 of Wands is the card of being overburdened or overwhelmed in life, something that we all experience on a regular basis. Most of these burdens we have chosen to pick up, and many of them are practical in nature. How am I going to get everything done today in only 24 hours? That is the feeling of this card. But as every 10 in the Tarot, this card is about that journey coming to an end, and that cycle finishing for the time being. Some of these burdens can be emotional. If we have hurt someone or are carrying guilt over responsibilities, the 10 of Wands may appear to us. The message of this card, whether your burdens are chosen by you or have come upon you, is to keep on keeping on. The end of the road is near, and the Sun is waiting to shine on you when you reach it.
The meaning of the 10 of Wands is very easy to understand when you recognize the symbolism. This is a card of being overburdened, but this is more the everyday type of burden, nothing devastating. The Sun is still shining on the man in the picture and we do not see darkness in this card. Also, the timing of this card relates to the holiday season, December 13 to December 23, to be exact. This is a time when all Earthlings are feeling overburdened. The man in this card is happy on the inside, but is literally weighed down by the fact that he is carrying all 10 wands into the town square. He’s not upset about it - he chose these burdens - and his journey is coming to an end as all do with the number 10 in Tarot. Even so, the 10 wands are heavy all the same, and he will put them down and chip away his burdens one by one, as we all do on a daily basis.
